COACHING

My intention is to hold a safe space for you to gain greater insights about yourself and to support you in making positive changes. Through presence, listening and discerning questions, we’ll explore those areas in which you are ready to grow. We’ll also dive into how your character strengths can serve you along your journey. My background in social work, yoga and other healing arts strongly informs the work we’ll do together. I hope to help you access your deepest wisdom, so you can ultimately show up as your highest self.

There are benefits to both stillness and movement. You’ll have the option to walk or hike during our time together or to sit.  Virtual appointments are also available.

I work with individuals who want to prioritize self-care. Many are regularly practicing yoga/meditation, or receiving counseling or bodywork. Some would like support in starting one or more of these. Below are some examples of who I coach in the process of change and acceptance:

  • Parents of children with Type I diabetes or other chronic conditions

  • Individuals seeking to reduce or eliminate lower back and hip pain

  • Individuals and families looking to change food choices due to health or medical issues.

  • Individuals dealing with anxiety

  • Survivors of suicide or other grieving individuals

A Note about Food/Nutrition:

You are the expert on your body and being, and I see myself as a guide to help you access your deepest inner wisdom.  Your overall health and well-being is what truly matters. People are created in all shapes and sizes, and all are welcomed here. If you have a health or medical condition and are looking to make dietary changes, I am happy to support you in that process. However, I am not a nutritionist or dietician and will refer out for specific advice that falls within their scope of practice. If you have struggled to accept your weight, I encourage you to look into Health at Every Size (HAES) and intuitive eating.

 Why choose coaching?

All of us need a little support and accountability from time to time. A coach can provide you with encouragement, discerning questions, helpful resources, and an objective viewpoint as you navigate change or difficult times. Coaches can also help you identify your goals and values, so you are able to live in better alignment with them. You could also call a coach, an ally, someone who journeys with you.

How is a coach different from a counselor?

While counselors often dive into the past to help individuals resolve unhelpful patterns and beliefs, a coach is more focused on the present and future. As a coaching client, you get to decide what to focus on and whether you want tips/information that could help you along the way. Coaches refer individuals to counselors when it is deemed appropriate.

How is a coach different from a consultant?

Typically, a consultant will offer their expertise on a topic, while a coach is invested in helping you discover your own solutions to problems or develop ideas around what will help you grow and change in positive ways.  A coach will offer information if it is requested, but there is a lot of attention given to your readiness for change, and sensitivity around what you already know and have tried.  Coaches refer individuals to consultants when it is deemed appropriate.
